Perspective - Short film | 5 Mins

Entry to 2019’s Aputure Light this Location challenge, Perspective was a passion-project put on by Daynen Biggs as a front to let us all play around with creatively lighting a one-shot. Daynen and I at the time were working together very closely on many highly-creative projects and this was the culmination of all of those meetings and the time we spent together.

We rented out a studio, built a set from scratch and decorated it, and I worked with my team to design an intricate lighting setup that would give us dramatic lighting to support the narrative while being as experimental as Daynen and I had wanted.

We shot this on the Blackmagic Pocket 4k and our lighting ranged from Aputure LED fresnels to old-school 2k moles to some source-four Lekos to give it a “stage” feeling. We also had to coordinate dimming and panning of lights as well as actually moving the set during the one-shot. We did a lot of prep-work that you can see in the attached BTS video and were able to pull it off with time to spare in our day.
